I was very disappointed with the lack of lesson material found in this book. These were not very thorough lessons.

It was not what I expected and I am unable to use this item.

I found 50 More Great Object Lessons That Bring The Bible To Life very helpful. Each lesson is easy to follow with clear and concise instructions. Mark, offers a Point, Prep, Props, Process, and Prayer for each lesson. I found that for every lesson I had all the "Props" in my own household items. If there is something you don't have he offers other suggestions of items you can substitute. I also found it helpful to know ahead of time what lessons needed "Prep" before class time so I could be best prepared for my students. It is a great resource for any classroom.

Practical ideas that help bring a dose of creativity to the process of teaching children about the Lord. Great resource for busy church leaders, teachers, and volunteers.

What an Amazing book, Julie, Mark and Virginia did an excellent job on portraying Norbert with his Smiles and love to all he meets. What a lovely Birthday gift Julie for this release date, and I think Parker Rose is definitely a "precious Miracle!"

I can't say enough wonderful things about Norbert and his family! His lessons are right on time and seeing his great pictures brings tears of joy to my eyes every time! Julie has done a super job of training Norbert but his soul was there to bring all that training to life! Her help putting Norbert's lessons into people-words and Mark's photographs have created the biggest little wonder-dog ever! Thanks to you all for sharing the joy every day.

This is a very wonderful book about a little tiny and cute dog named Norbert. He is just adorable!! Norbert is a registered therapy dog who visits children's hospitals, homeless shelters, and others in need of cheer with his owner Julie. There are lots of cute critters, but you little guy are en epitome of life, care and beauty. At 56 you look fantastic - even better than before! You're a unique little star that warmly shines upon the sick little kids who adore you! You're the world's ewok budha and life is better 'cause you're born...Yes... I'm very partial :)

I saw this dog and book on Hallmark Home and Family. After ordering the book and reading it I bought enough to give to my family and friends. Most have made it their "coffee table" book. When things aren't going right or you are feeling down all you have to do it read about Norbert and you will have a smile on your face. My sister is an HR manager and she uses it to cheer up employees who are having a bad day. Best book to have in your life.

I love Julie Steines and little Norbert. She and Norbert go to hospitals to cheer up pediatric patients. Mark Steines, who did the photography for the book, is a fabulous photographer. I hope her earlier books go into publication again because I can't afford the "collectable" versions. Her mom did most, if not all of the artwork for the earlier books.

If I had to chose one medical astrology book, this would be it. Well written, with examples and charts. A good reference book. One of the points I liked particularly in this book, is that it provides a valuable information of the Western astro medicine and throws in the authors expertise in the fields of pharmacy plus herbal medical info and gives a guide for practical diagnostics and therapy tools. The author has done a wonderful job putting information already learned in to this book to what she has learned. I like the that the symptoms can be matched with those of the chart which are activated by the transits, progressions, and eclipses at the time they started. Helpful to give a clear pattern to those who are looking at medical charts to help their clients or for self use. This book is a good tool for the library. Covers looking at Past Medical History, Social, Emotional and Event History, times of significant health related issues, and then helps put these all together for the reader.

A very interesting book that you can dip in and out of again and again. well written for a lay-person to read.

As a trainee astrologer, I have long resisted reading anything about medical astrology in case it scared me too much! This is a great first book to read on the subject and makes you re-think your views on health and ill-health. It is a very readable, comprehensive reference book for someone with some prior knowledge of the basics of astrology, for example the planets, houses and aspects as well as the signs of the zodiac. The reference material is superb and I found that the correspondences between my medical history and the main features of my birth chart were spookily accurate.The author describes the main function of medical astrology as the identification of the underlying astro-dynamic patterns that link mind and body, and the tackling of the inherent issues of which the outer symptoms are a physical manifestation.There is a fascinating section on Decumbiture Charts, a traditional method of diagnosis & therapy based on the time a person takes to their bed with an illness. Also, the book contains much practical guidance on therapy sessions using medical astrology. There is no attempt to replace the medical team but rather to complement them. The author describes how the process works - changing the relationship between ourselves and our more difficult features through awareness and what she describes as an "upgrading" - transforming these into new more positive ways of expression that bring healing.The astrological correspondences of illnesses and remedies including herbs, plus a full bibliography of further reading ensure that this will be a much used reference book.

For me this will become a reference book but first I will have to read it a couple of more times.More importantly this is a book to be read with a sound background in astrology. So my 4 stars review is due to my ignorance of the subject more than the book in its integrity.It is small and concentrated, making reference to other medical astrologers throughout history and the techniques used. There is a lot of detail but alas, these details will only be savoured when my astrology studies will have tremendously improved.

Ravik is trying to change things , but it is hard when only a few are seeing things his way. Other worlds do not want to associate with such barbarism. And Braxia is on the verge of collapse. Many situations and predicaments make up someone's history , and Ravik could tell you stories about growing up under his life as the son of a tyrannical father who lived by the old ways.Ravenna or Mercy , as she likes to be called is a Veridian -Guldan hybird. So rare that there are only two in all the worlds. She has been hidden away most of her whole life because" Rare" finds bring out the crazies. Her father feared kidnapping and sequestered her away in one of his many slave ships. She grew up Veridian , but was also aware of her Guldan roots. Her father Gruuk Vrok was a ultra successful slaver who accrued a massive fortune, and as his only heir , Mercy must collect her inheritance in Guldar , which is a world almost as bad as Braxia where females are practically third class citizens. She is trying to find a list that her late brother had of the many sales of slaves in order to put all of her Mother's children together . And this leads her to Braxia. As Mercy and Ravik meet sparks fly immediately, and Mercys technology and osu abilities come in handy more then once , but how will an independent woman in her own for the first time be able to live on such a barbaric world ??? Ravik is trying to induce change , but how long will That take ??? This story was amazing from the first word until the last , and I am anxiously awaiting MORE !!!!! Ok...Gonna say now Iâ€™m really sick of the two main types of heroine I see out here... one) the weak wishy washy doormat, never really sticks up for herself ,forgives way,way too easily and letâ€™s her H do just about anything he wants to her because he makes her panties damp....Or b) ( not sure I dislike more) the sometimes hard,Iâ€™m strong ,pushy and opinionated,gotta always have my way,I donâ€™t always think before I speak,but can be easily offended ,itâ€™s my way or the highway , to be strong I MUST.do it by myself,because Iâ€™m strong! I must have my way...Now Ravena was definitely b) not a) but she wasnâ€™t all those things .... and the parts that she was ( stubborn,pushy,demanding, opinionated, short sighted) she wasnâ€™t all those things all the time.... while I loved Amalia in the first book,she was more balanced than her aunts to me..Amalia while she can be impetuous and definitely wants her way at times,she not soo hard and doesnâ€™t try to have a female led relationship like her aunts try to do...Now donâ€™t get me wrong ,I get that Ravena/Mercy like her sister were used to taking care of themselves had very good reasons for not trusting men but they both fell for good men that sadly they just didnâ€™t always know to treat or trust...I started off good with Mercy,rooting for her all along the way, eager for her to collect her inheritance and get off her fathers evil backwards home world that had less than zero respect for women.... and I loved how the moment she realized Ravik was her mate she went after him,never hiding how she felt or playing games....That was great ! But what annoyed me was her pride,hubris and just plain stupidity when it came to her safety ....She has to quickly run from her fathers home home because slavers were on her tail soo they could catch her and assault her and strip her or her wealth and sale her as a pet or toy ..and here she was off to a planet that was even more backwards than that.... I get she was tired of hiding, geez almost 50 out of almost 200 years of life and sheâ€™s had to hide who she was, Iâ€™m sure it was hell but but just because her father and brother died didnâ€™t mean the world was a safe place...Even if sheâ€™d stayed with her mother and sister and niece and their families ,sheâ€™d still have to be careful to some degree but she didnâ€™t ,she was going to a rough backwards place and didnâ€™t want to take necessary protocols to keep herself safe...WTH ?!?One of the things she loves about Rivik from the get go is how huge and strong and muscular and masculine he is,but even he had guards when he went out because it was just that dangerous but no big bad Ravena doesnâ€™t want to have guards even after numerous attempts on all their lives she bristles and bridals at the thought she canâ€™t take car3 Iâ€™d herself ... WTH beyotch ? Your fortune is higher then most ppl can count and your a literal one of a kind breed that could sell for almost as much as that and you think itâ€™s safe to wander around alone ?WTH!I would tried to over look it if her stupidity didnâ€™t play soo well into the end of the book kidnapping....Hey, I know these sort things have to happen in this sorta book but to happen due the H or in the case the hâ€™s pride and hubris just ticks me off....But what fit me even more was the naming....At the end of the book as usual we have the h and H having beautiful new editions to the Veredian race... what got me was her insistence at naming her beautiful new baby boy after her evil father and brother... WTFNow for four books we are told about the truly evil plots set out for her father and brother , but now all their issues ar3 being blamed or culture and being rejected by a father or mother or both and somehow itâ€™s like they just didnâ€™t have a choice ... say what ?Ok,thru his sick messed up forced breeding program her father might have helped keep the Veredian species going ,but that doesnâ€™t make the sick things he did right,nor does his culture excuse his actions either.... same for her brother ok,so both his parents rejected him,and he came from a messed up culture , Varruk still had choices to make and killing and force breeding and sexually abusing ppl and selling them was his choice. No on forced him,not even his father...And for her to try and excuse all that and to give her son both their names to carry on their line ,w/the sick sick legacy thatâ€™s attached to it was sixty shades of wrong ....Dear gods I wanted to slap her sooo silly,and it sooo wouldnâ€™t of been funny...Iâ€™d definitely recommend,especially if youâ€™ve been reading the Veredian series ( which I hope there is more of) but not a fan of this h at all...

What a delightful book! I have been fascinated by all the great facts and history made so interesting by Richard Mabey. If you love nature, are interested in plants throughout history, and just enjoy a good read by a talented author, this is your book.There was one mistake that I found in the chapter on Cycads. Oliver Sacks DID write about cycads, but Mr. Mabey was incorrect in stating that the plant ingestion was associated with color blindness. Eating parts of the Cycad is associated with a neurological disease.I looked to forward to a great read every evening and hope to read more by the author. I don't understand the negative reviews at all! But I've got a lot of knowledge about plants, trees, and gardening, and I love reading about them.

An absolutely great book about the interrelationship of plants and people

Having made a living as a commercial flower grower, I'm somewhat enamoured with plants. This book brings new light and meaning to them in respects I've never considered! Well written and with lively historical notes make for intresting and informative reading.

I bought this for a vacation read, which was just right. The essays are the right length for a single sitting and don't have to be read in sequence. The trip was over before I was done with the book, so I'll save it for another time.

Before you start reading, realize what this book is: a collection of personal essays centering on plants. It is not a botany text (although Mabey is extremely knowledgeable about plants). It's really botanical nature writing, by a master writer. It centers on Britain, although his essays have a wide scope. Note this part of the title: "...of plant life and the human imagination." That means the intersection of botany, plants, history and culture. If you like this kind of writing, this book is excellent and the writing is extremely good. If that does not appeal to you, you will not find this compelling. Me, I like it and highly recommend it. Here's a sentence in which Mabey clarifies what he's writing: "It's a story about plants as authors of their own lives and an argument that ignoring their vitality impoverishes our imagination and out well-being."One gripe: that 40,000 years in the title is a bit of a stretch. There is a little about representations of plants, or rather the lack of representation, in ancient cave art; there's more about the Neolithic revolution of domesticating plants, and of the classical era. Most however is the last few centuries.Here are some things that interested me. He discusses trees and branches, as plants and as metaphor, such as family tree, tree of life, decision tree. Chapter 3 looks at trees with charisma, such as famed churchyard yews and the Fortingall Yew. Chapter 4 looks at the baobab in terms of evolution, some of its odder uses (graves, sacred space, water collection). Chapter 5 examines the sequoia in the same way. Chapter 6 looks at bristlecone pines and other old trees. Chapter 7 muses on cycads--muses is an appropriate word in this book--and Chapter 8 discusses oaks. Chapter 10 looks at "the vegetable lamb," that is cotton, and some persistent myths that once circulated. Chapter 12 discusses ginseng, and also explores the once-common doctrine of signatures. Chapter 13 looks at "the vegetable mudfish," samphire, which mystifies Americans. Chapter 14 looks at "Newton's Apple."There's more. There's a lot of incidental information, which will fascinate some readers and perhaps bore others. Example: the worldwide orchid trade is worth almost ten billion dollars a year. There's some discussion of what and how plants can sense and communicate.

A delightful book that even a non plant lover can enjoy, covers History, literature , Science and trivia in a scholarly manner without being overwhelming to an average reader. This book does for Botany what Richard Homes did for 18th century Science in his book " The Age Of wondereven though the Author is British it would be of interest to other readers as well. Highly recommended. One need not be an anglophile to enjoy it, but it helps !

About the Author

Omarosa Manigault Newman is the former Director of Communications for the Office of Public Liaison in Donald Trump’s White House, and was an aide in the Office of Presidential Personnel and the Office of the Vice President in the Clinton White House. She has served as an adjunct professor in the Howard University School of Business. Prior to joining the Trump administration, Omarosa served as a chaplain in the California State Military Reserve. I originally greeted this book with a great deal of skepticism. I had never seen an episode of â€œThe Apprentice,â€ Donald Trumpâ€™s reality TV show that first made Omarosa famous, but I knew that she played the villain on that show and was a longtime champion of Trump before turning 180 degrees and penning this behind-the-scenes book. If Sarah Huckabee Sanders had a shred of credibility herself, I could almost believe her when she repeated the official White House line that dismissed Omarosaâ€™s book as an act of vengeance by a disgruntled employee. (Although Iâ€™ve always had a problem with the term â€œdisgruntled employeeâ€ used to discredit anything anyone ever says about someone they formerly worked for, as if no employer could ever do anything reprehensible.) But I knew that the book irked Trump, and as the ancient saying goes, â€œThe enemy of my enemy is my friend,â€ so I gave it a read.I was surprised by how measured and convincing the author is in telling the story of her life, her upbringing, how she came to be a fervent admirer of Trump, and how she later came to be completely disillusioned. I can understand why she was reluctant to admit Trumpâ€™s shortcomings to herself, after he had done so much for her career, and her initial loyalty is, in my opinion, rather admirable. For my own part, I have always given the benefit of the doubt to someone who has been helpful and kind to me if a third party expresses a grievance against them. Iâ€™m prone to believe the evidence of my own experience more than something I only have someone elseâ€™s word for. And Omarosa, with breathtaking thoroughness, methodically relates the endless series of incidents she first tried to ignore or rationalize before realizing that something was seriously wrong.The many Trump trolls who are going on Amazon to give this book one-star ratings and slamming it as being â€œtotal liesâ€ (an ironic charge considering their own cult leader) have obviously not read the book. Omarosa does not indulge in extensive speculation or idle gossip; virtually every statement or action of Trumpâ€™s that destroyed her loyalty to him is something he actually tweeted or said in a televised interview; she doesnâ€™t indulge in he said/she said rumors. Whatâ€™s most revelatory arenâ€™t the things we didnâ€™t already know, but rather how she recounts the ones weâ€™re familiar with but from the unique perspective of someone who was on the inside looking out. And as has been revealed in numerous TV interviews, she has thoroughly documented everything she reports, possessing hundreds of audio tapes, emails, documents, and even videos of her time in the White House. (The book begins with an astonishing example in her account of her firing by John Kelly.) If youâ€™re going to try to discredit the book, youâ€™re going to need more than knee-jerk name-calling. Perhaps, and the reader has no way of knowing this, she has withheld information that would be damaging to her, but considering the smear campaign launched against her by the White House, one would think that anything really negative about her tenure would have been dredged up by now. And what she does tell us rings with complete authenticity.I was surprised at how sympathetic her observations on Melania are, and after reading her interpretation of numerous events made famous on the Internet, I now question the thoroughly negative gold-digger image Iâ€™d previously had. And the entire book ends on a surprisingly positive and optimistic note, which is the one thing in Unhinged I found unconvincing. But for all of our sakes, I hope sheâ€™s right.

I have just finished reading Omarosa's book. She comes across to me as self-serving, having attached herself to Mr. Trumpand using her association with him to further her own interests. Having said that, however, I add good for her! Her own interests include doing good things for other black people, especially students in historically black colleges. She is very smart, and clearly good at manipulating people and situations to her advantage. As she pointed out, when these traits are identified in white men especially in the business world and in politics, they are considered positive. In black women it is a different story. Mr. Trump is getting a good dose of well-deserved comeuppance from her. No, she did not reveal much of significance that we do not already know about Mr. Trump's personality, character, leadership, intelligence, and the character of people with which he chooses to surround himself and rely on for guidance, but I found it valuable to hear yet another testimony on these issues from someone who has known Mr. Trump for many years. I hope others continue to speak out and tell the world about what a disaster this man is as our leader. Prominent take-aways from this book are:Mr. Trump's overwhelming malignant narcissism. He always spins every situation such that he is at the center of it.His utter lack of loyalty to people from whom he demands complete loyalty.His utter and complete disregard for the truth. He sees the world as he would like it to be, rather than how it actually is.His physical, intellectual and emotional decline over the period of 15 years.It is said that people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. I would say that we all live in glass houses. None of us is perfect. We all have our closet skeletons and failings. Realizing that, we should be tolerant of other people's failings. But we need to come together and protect each other when stones start flying fast and furiously and put us all in danger.

I bought this book in the beginning as a "protest buy". Now I can't put it down. This is an extremely fascinating woman who has a hell of a story to tell. She writes in a very calm and casual way and when she does throw out some tidbits, it's done in a respectful and thoughtful manner. I judged her in the past rather negatively but now feel a connection with her which frankly surprises me. For the record I have never seen her on any Trump reality shows as i never cared for him. This is an excellent and classy book and i have a feeling the author is going to land on her feet with no problem after her tenure with Trump....unlike some others. Highly recommend!

Whether or not you think you like, or dislike, the author from image portrayed on The Apprentice, I found Omarosa's book to be an enjoyable read.The real treat here is that she is quite open about her history with "TrumpWorld" as she calls it in the book. She acknowledges her own self-interested motives, and blind spots. It's a story that starts with a starry eyed younger Omarosa, and ends with her freedom from the 'TrumpWorld cult'. Along the way she becomes increasingly aware that her former mentor, friend, and idol, has no empathy for others, is narcissistic to an extreme, does not read or intake new information unless it's on a favored cable TV channel, and she also sees signs of dementia-like behavior leaving her wondering what, if anything, she can do as an insider.If nothing else, it's worth a read for the timeline of the most controversial events during and after the 2016 election, from the perspective of someone inside.

I was pleased to find this account well written and even handed. Sadly it pulls the curtain back to unveil the unraveling of a country coming apart at it's core and the singular man responsible in tandem with it. This author surprised me.
