About the Author
Annalisa Rellie was a freelance travel and food writer and the author of the original Bradt guide to Montenegro, which is now into this 5th edition. She worked on all subsequent editions before her death in 2014 and had a particular passion for Crna Gora (the ‘Black Mountain’). I found this book to be rather outdated and not a fun read. I usually enjoy flipping though guidebooks, but this was not laid out in a manner that made it easy or fun. I'm sure there's some very valuable information contained within, but I wasn't willing to hunt it down especially after reading the list of outdated items you should pack.
The author spent 10 years in Montenegro, and it shows. Incredibly detailed, contains references to historical sites that don't appear on downloadable maps or in the Lonely Planet. The text can be dense, but we found it quite helpful.
I used this guide book back when it was the ONLY guide book for Montenegro. It's charming and the advice about the country is spot on.
