GIGI STEWART, BS, MA, is the creator of the popular lifestyle website GigiStewart.com. Don't bother buying this book. This author used social media to sell her books then went completely silent on her customers. Closing down her accounts meant you could no longer have access to pictures of recipes that she used to lure her customer base. You can't reach her about her recipes. The recipe for the bread turned out so dense. Did I do something wrong I'll never know because the author is unattainable. I'm ready to throw this book in the trash as Mrs. Stewart has done to her customers. She begged for reviews via social media and here is my review. Better to buy from Authors Danielle Walker or Jennifer Bigler. They include pictures in their books and they are accessible through social media for questions etc....and they do Facebook live for their peeps.
This book addresses many needs people who are new to a gluten free life-style would find extremely helpful. My husband (who does not require a GF diet), and I have thoroughly enjoyed several recipes from this book. So far we have made the Gigi's Everyday Gluten Free flour and have used it in the veggie pizza (that did not taste like cardboard) the flatbread; Perfect Gravy Every Time we had with the Roasted Harissa Chicken, mash potatoes and peas. We have enjoyed the Easy Lo Mein, the Cilantro-Lime Slaw with the Grilled Jerk Chicken Tenders; the Persian-Spiced Carrot Hummus with Versatile Flatbread and tomorrow evening we are having the Grilled Flank Steak. Not one disappointment.This book contains a recipe index that notes Dairy Free, Egg Free, Vegan and Vegetarian recipes. Each recipe provides the number of people it serves, prep-time, cook time, single pot, ingredient tips and allergen tips along with the all important calories, total fat, carbs, etc..If I had this book two years ago, my transition to a GF diet would have been significantly easier. Thank you Gigi Stewart for the effort put into this!!
Recipes are okay.I have used this author's many online recipes over the years to much success. Always loved perusing her website for inspiration of all kinds- not just food wise.One difference between her recipes that used to be on her site and this book? The book recipes are fussier with more ingredients that are harder to find unless you do a lot of online ordering, or you live in a large city. There is a lot less creativity in this book.Disappointed that the author built up a devoted fan base and then dumped them all like hot cakes after the cook-book was released. She selfishly pulled all the recipes from her site and even more upsetting for me at least: all helpful information on living with celiac disease.Part of the reason I purchased this was because I was able to try the recipes on her site, and knew they were good. I really don't buy cookbooks from authors whose recipes I can't try out beforehand.How are new potential buyers going to trust that these are going to work out when they never get to test out any of her other recipes? Gluten free cooking is already more expensive, so why buy from someone who sounds like an entitled brat on her webpage and has only left up links to purchase her book?I am fine with the fact that she wants to pursue other avenues in her life, and that she isn't putting out new content; she is a free human being welcome to grow and change as she sees fit. In fact, I wish her luck. The least she could have done was to leave the website in tact, or at least send out an email for those who subscribed and let us know so that we could be sure to write down our favorite and go-to's had we not yet done so. Instead, she pulled everything and hid behind a snarky "About Me" page.This just feels like a slap in the face for those of us who supported and cheered her on all these years. And for those of us who eagerly and happily supported her financially by purchasing her cook book and e-books, all of which we could have found for free elsewhere.The cookbook is decent, but don't expect any support if you have questions about a recipe. She has made clear she will not be responding to anyone from now on, unless you want to "collaborate" with her... i.e. pay her money to talk to you.I genuinely feel scammed. This is akin to being dumped via text. This was NOT the way to keep people loyal to her brand and recommending her to people new to gluten free.I Cannot recommend this book, and will be throwing my copy out, like the author has done to her devoted followers. I have to go grain free anyway.
This is my new favorite cookbook and it will remain a book I turn to for years to come.It has been living on my countertop since I received it and I have been trying one recipe after another. Each time, I am blown away by the simple, well-written recipes, and the exceptional taste. (Lime/lemon zest in roasted broccoli is pretty revolutionary!)There is so much valuable, comprehensive information within this book, from the basics of gluten-free cooking to the secrets behind how the ingredients work in the recipes. As someone who cooks often, I can see how Gigi has used expert techniques to bring out the best in each recipe.I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to eat a healthy gluten-free diet!
disappointed-there are no pictures for all the meals! for a person that now has to go on gluten free diet- its hard to get started and harder when you have to change your whole diet- it doesnt help that when im looking for a cookbook - no pictures are included of what the end result is suppose to look like.
This book really is great for a gluten free beginner. It's well written and full of recipes that I look forward to trying.
It has many gluten free recipes and I have only a “gluten sensitivity “ not a gluten allergy, which was the only element I searched and this book was rated high. However, because I read reviews superficially, I did not notice the recipes also include everything else like dairy free, and by my standards,essentially taste-free. If you must eliminate many ingredients, this is probably for you.
