This book was amazing! It was short and included many details about Steve Jobs. What surprised me the most was the fact that he was so poor and then became a billionaire. "Steve couldn't pay for college". "Steve Jobs was a success- a big success. He wasn't a millionaire anymore. He was a billionaire." Steve Jobs has showed me that it doesn't matter where you come from, you can be a success. That a poor child can go from having no money to becoming one of the richest and youngest men alive.
My 11 year old daughter loves this book. She also likes the others in the series, but she really loves this one. Its cool that she understands the background behind all the Apple devices she is using. She really embraced the idea that Steve Jobs did not invent any of the technologies, he just made them practical, and more importantly, fun to use. She said she thought she knew a lot about Jobs before reading the book, but she really didn't know much at all. She was amazed in the amount of interesting facts about his life. She talked about Jobs for about 3 days straight after reading it.
Who Was books have become a favorite of my 9 year old boy. They provide a lot of factual information in a fun way... keeps me from constantly having to Google factoids for my son =)
must read
If you enjoy computers (and it's history); and, other electronics, you'll have a deep appreciation for the life (described in this book) of Steve Jobs. He was a true visionary.
Great book. We love this series "Who was...", it's a great way to let kids read about real people that made history without it being too boring. My 8 year old can read these books in a day, so we might see if the library carries them.
I absolutely love the Who was books. They are so great for my 10 year old and I. Has enough info to keep an adult interested yet illustrations to keep a child interested.
